Polyurea You need a Polyurea Coating when you need a product that is:
  • Moisture insensitive,
  • Flexible,
  • Chemical and abrasion resistant,
  • and Cures in seconds or minutes (even at subzero temperatures).

If you require quick repair of concrete cracks or damaged control joints or spalls, polyurea will provide superior results.

Benefits include:

How polyurea works when applied

  • Short down time. Polyurea provides a rapid, year-round, labor-saving and cost effective solution.
  • Cures in subfreezing temperatures
  • USDA approved
  • UV stable and available in custom colors
  • Low perm rate
  • Available in gun grade
  • Nearly impermeable to the elements
  • Excellent impact and abrasion resistance
  • Polyurea formulations offer elongations from 250% to 1300%. The inherent flexibility and memory of polyurea allows easy bridging of hairline fractures in concrete surfaces, even at low temperatures.
  • 100% solid polyurea is highly resistant to deterioration under extreme weathering conditions. Polyurea can be applied directly to various metals, concrete or geotextile for long term protection.

Urethane Harder than epoxy but slippier when wet, Urethane protects concrete floors from the harmful effects of spillage, dirt and wear. To help reduce the slipperiness, a grit can be broadcasted into the urethane coating. Two kinds of urethane include Moisture-Cured Urethane and Chemical Resistant Urethane.

Benefits include:

Layers between concrete substrate and chemical resistant urethane finish
Chemical Resistant Urethane

  • Moisture cured
  • Chemical resistant (See illustration to left)
  • Elasticity (some types of urethane)
  • Durable
  • Protection against most chemicals
  • More scratch resistant than epoxy

Epoxy Epoxies are used for concrete primers and stand-alone floor coatings in low traffic areas. These types of coatings are easy to clean and help keep the dust down. There are two kinds of epoxies -- Water-Based/Solvent-Based Epoxy and 100% Epoxy.

Benefits include:

The greater the mil thickness, the greater the need to prepare a more coarse surface.

  • 100% Epoxies have no solvents to evaporate and, therefore, a greater mil thickness can be achieved.
  • A higher mil thickness can be achieved for areas that experience heavier traffic.
  • Great for filling in cracks
  • Effective in trowling into spalled out areas
  • Useful as a binder for aggregate-filled floors
  • USDA approved
  • Stronger than concrete!
